Backyard Pond Sample or Tasty New Cocktail?
G is dreaming of slicing down snowy slopes, and I'm already dreaming of barefoot time ... fresh-cut grass, warm rocks, trickling water fountains ... and my favorite sorbet, Cucumber Jalapeno. Instead of sorbet, we recreated it this Thursday as a cool green, velvety cocktail. We brought the mixture to our friends' new place (in a jelly jar, yes, and it did raise eyebrows) and asked them to help us name it. As we sipped in their dining room with the bamboo floors and eggplant walls, the name was a natural.

The Happy Hour Toast To L and S, congratulations on making your place your own. May it always be filled with Cucumber Zen! ~Shelly & Gary |
The Drink
: Cucumber Zen Mixture Prep 1 cucumber, peeled, seeded and chopped (before seeding, slice a couple wheels for garnish) 1 jalapeno, split and seeded 3-4 oz simple syrup juice of 1 lemon 1 oz of Roses lime juice (Makes enough for 4 cocktails.) Set aside cucumber wheels for garnish. Blend or mash the ingredients until pulpy and strain through sieve. The finer the sieve, the clearer the drink. Toss the pulpy leftovers. Cocktail 2 oz vodka 1 1/2 oz of cucumber mixture Shake well with ice. Strain into cocktail glass. Garnish with cucumber wheel. Make it virgin: Replace vodka with lemon-lime soda. Stir. Pour over ice. |
Be smart, safe, and healthy. Drink in moderation. Don't drink and drive. We thank you.
