The Best IPA in America?
What’s the best IPA in America? Oh, them’s fightin’ words . . . so when I asked some fellow beer friends recently which one they thought was tops, I wasn’t surprised that I got about as many responses as I have friends. Fortunately, it didn’t go to fisticuffs and we all parted agreeing to disagree.
Right now, I’m kind of partial to Dogfish Head 90 Minute Imperial IPA. And who could blame me? It’s crazily hopped, but all the hops are evened out with a ton of delicious malt. According to the bottle, it features “a single, constant 90-minute hop addition” balanced by “a ridiculous amount of English Two-Row Barley”. Then it’s dry hopped. I have only a vague idea what any of that means. I just know it’s good. Really good.
Try it. If you don’t like it, we may have to go fisticuffs.
| The Beer Details Brewer: Dogfish Head Craft Brewery (Milton, Delaware) Style: Imperial/Double IPA ABV: 9% IBUs: 90 (what else?) Price: ~$11/ 4-pack (According to the brewer’s website, they will soon be distributing it in 6-packs! Sometimes, more is more . . .) |

dogfish head is good. You should also try Pliny the Elder from Russian River brewing and try PureHoppiness from Alpine beer company.

Thanks, breals! I am a fan of those beers as well . . . How psyched were you when they started distributing Pliny the Elder in bottles last year? I have one chillin' in the fridge right now . . . :)
