Fast, Cheap, and Under Control
Do you and your friends love expensive Belgian beers but feel the need to control expenses?
Whenever people come to visit, I hit Trader Joe’s for little treats, cheap-but-good wine, and a bottle of Trader Joe’s Vintage Ale.
When I first discovered this beer, I was trying to control expenses after a trip to Belgium. And it was nice to find a good-bang-for-the-buck Belgian style brew that didn’t break the bank but still tasted rather decently like the fine Abbey dubbels it is styled after. Sweet raisin flavors, spicy malts, coffee and toffee – with a dry finish.
Of course, I will take a trip to Belgium over a trip to Trader Joe’s anytime. But I get into much less trouble at Trader Joe’s.

Is this a limited edition ale? I didn't see it at the LJ Trader's.

I bought my bottle at Hillcrest Trader Joe's some time this year. Will have to check and see if they still have any next time I'm there . . . will ask how limited production it is. I've see it come and go and come back again at times that have no rhyme or reason.
