'Tis the Season for Summer Beers
“Oh, I’m stuffed.”
This was the general consensus among me and my friends after eating too much fabulous Salvadoran food at a restaurant we’d just recently discovered.
Still, a few of us managed to drag our bodies several blocks to a great pub anyway. And was I glad we did when I saw one of my favorite seasonal beers on tap: Avery’s Maharaja IPA.
Always room for an after-dinner beer, I decide.
This Imperial pale ale is one of those beers that comes at you with both barrels blazing -- an insane amount of malted barley coupled with an equally ridiculous amount of bright, crisp hops. So the flavor is intense, yet somehow light, refreshing, and nicely balanced.
And sure, my full stomach groaned a little. But it was worth it. Because this beer only makes an appearance during the summer. So you’ve got to take advantage while you can.
Even if it hurts a little.

Want this beer? It’s distributed in about half of U.S. states. Here’s a nice map from the brewer of where you can find Avery beers.
