Take a Flight . . . A Beer Flight
So much beer, so little time. In fact, there’s just too much good beer in the world to be able to experience it all responsibly. That's where beer flights come in.
And it’s what my dinner companion and I opted for recently at a pizza and ale house . . .
With a flight, you typically get several small samples of different beers – a few ounces of each. Our flight had six 5-ounce tasters of different specialty beers from Craftsman Brewing Company -- including an IPA, a lager, and a barley wine.
The one that stuck out for me: Triple White Sage. Yes, beer brewed with one of the most popular spices in American cooking. My sip began with a pleasant malty, golden flavor from the base beer, and then it tousled my taste buds affectionately with a distinct sage finish. A truly unique spice beer.
And after this adventure in beer tasting, I’ll be very much looking forward to my next flight.

Happy Hour Idea #32 Host your own beer flight pizza party. Choose a brewer that has several types of beer OR select the same type of beer from different brewers (i.e. all IPAs). Ask your guests to bring the "theme" beer to taste and you'll provide the pizza (or the other way around). Play good music for beer drinking. |
Want this beer? You may have to travel to Pasadena to get it. Check out this picture of the brewery founder with his delivery truck and you’ll know why.
