Better Late Than Never . . .
By now, most Oktoberfest celebrations have wound down. So I was feeling kind of sad that I'd failed to partake in any of the local festivals. Especially since I had a hankering for something German and malty . . .
Fortunately, there was still plenty of evidence of the season in my local grocery stores, in the form of special release Oktoberfest beers. Perfect.
I grabbed a 6-pack of Hacker-Pschorr’s Original Oktoberfest.
The woman in charge of the beer section at the store said it was the darkest of the releases she’d ordered this year, and the tastiest.
As I settled back home with a glass of it, and a pumpkin at my side ready for carving, I had to agree. It was a good one.
A beautiful fall amber color, mildly spicy and sweet, a good malty foundation, lightly hopped, and a dry finish. Without thinking, I opened another one . . .
Guess the pumpkin carving extravaganza will just have to wait for another night. Tonight, it’s all about the beer.
