Let the Noshing Begin!
With the seemingly endless stream of holiday parties this time of year comes the equally endless array of chips, dips, crackers, and cheese spreads. (And, of course, the subsequent vow to hit the gym come January 1st.) But nevermind that for now—let's enjoy the snacking while we can.
And while we're at it, how about a fruity glass of Sauvignon Blanc with a homemade cheese spread?

Here's my favorite festive—and super easy—homemade cheese spread, perfect for any holiday gathering: Sun Dried Tomato and Pesto Torta Recipe 4 sun-dried tomatoes 4 basil leaves 3 tubs soft garlic and herb cheese (like Rondelé or Alouette) 1/4 cup sun-dried tomato tapenade 1/4 cup basil pesto Line a small bowl with plastic wrap and coat with vegetable spray. Arrange tomatoes and basil in a flower shape at bottom of the dish. Scoop 1-1/2 tubs of cheese into bowl and smooth. Layer tapenade, pesto, and remaining cheese in bowl. Place a serving plate over bowl and invert the torta. Remove plastic and serve with sliced baguette and/or crackers. |
This fresh, fruity and acidic Sauvignon Blanc is a pairs superbly with many appetizers—including this yummy homemade cheese spread. So go ahead—nosh away.
Wishing you a holiday full of family, friends, food, and wine.
