An Icy Drink to Warm You Up
The snow is falling just about everywhere this week. For some it's not good news, but for six guys visiting North Lake Tahoe, it couldn't be better.
Fresh powder daily kept us with permanent grins and perpetual hoots and hollers on the slopes.
When the day was done, legs rubbery from countless runs, faces pink from icy wind, we looked to the bar for something potent, simple and refreshing.
The Snowshoe is that drink.
| Full Disclosure So, I must admit that this particular trip did not include any snowshoes except for the pair hanging in the garage at the cabin. What it did include was a bunch of old friends getting together from all over the west coast to ski, eat, drink and lob harmless insults at each other for five days. Next year the Snowshoe is on the menu. Brian, Scott, Pat, Keith and Matt, you have been warned. Got your own favorite post-snow outing drink? Tweet it to us or tell us about it on Facebook. |
The Snowshoe Cocktail At once fiery, cool, strong and refreshing, the Snowshoe is the perfect apres ski libation. Fill a large rocks glass with crushed ice. Add the bourbon and schnapps and stir well. You could garnish it with a mint sprig dusted with sugar, but honestly, do you think six guys in the mountains would do that? |
CAUTION: The term "Apres Ski" means after skiing. The Snowshoe Cocktail packs a punch, so save it for the reward of a day on the powder.
