Balancing Act 

I’ve been practicing this balancing act of traveling while working, working while traveling, which I’m getting pretty good at, but takes a little mind adjustment and a whole lot of planning. It also infuses a good dose of perspective and innovation to anything I’m working on.  Content strategy, after all, is about creative problem solving.

So when we pack up and hit the road, we consider where we’ll be on Thursday, for happy hour, and how we might toast the region and our latest projects. This time, the contrast of coastal sun and mountain snow leaves us just a little giddy ... this beer cocktail is the perfect reflection.

The Inspiration Gary has a side project in the works called Hopped Up San Diego. He’s been tracking down our many beer revolutionaries and attempting to capture what makes them tick on film. Or digital. Whichever. A side effect is all the interesting beers we’ve been introduced to, from Ballast Point’s cocoa chipotle concoction to all of TapHunter's craft beers on tap (via the mobile app and online.) Skip and Go Naked Beer Cocktail 2 oz gin 1/2 oz pomegranate liqueur or triple sec (totally different results, but both surprising and fun) Juice of a quarter lemon Bottle of amber lager, we used Fat Tire from New Belgium (since it was on my mind) Combine all ingredients except beer in a tall glass of ice and stir well. Top with beer and stir gently. Serve with a wink and a smile.

CAUTION: Beer cocktails are bubbly. Don't let it go up your nose. Especially if it's freezing outside. Oh yeah, and don't drink and then drive, even if it's not icy. Come on, seriously.
