Tequila Season
Now that spring is here – though, it is alluding some parts of the country – sunshine is on our minds and that bottle of tequila starts to look good again. Seems like it just tastes better when you've got the warm sun on your back.
With all the citrus coming back in season, we've been pairing agave tequila with fresh grapefruit juice and getting some fantastic results. There's something about the tart, bitter and floral notes of grapefruit that marries so well with a good tequila. Just add a little sun, some good friends and swing into spring (weather permitting).

The Inspiration This time of year we begin to see oranges, limes, lemons and grapefruit at our local markets for what amounts to pennies apiece. That's when it's time to stock up, squeeze it for fresh juice, make your own sweet and sour or perfect your triple sec recipe. If you are lucky enough to have your own citrus trees, all the better. And, if you find that your fruit trees are bearing too much fruit to use or share, call on your local food bank to see if they support a fruit tree project in your area. They will send out volunteers to pick the fruit and donate it to those in need. What's your favorite citrus and spirit pairing? Share it on Facebook or find us on Twitter. |
Agave Blossom Cocktail
Enjoying this on the hot, sunny patio or poolside? Try it on the rocks. |
CAUTION: Good tequila and citrus paired with a hot summer's day go down way too easy. Just ask my mom (sorry about that, Mom).
